Authentic Retirement

Authentic Retirement is a gift from the community of Pathwaves.

AR began with a friend’s (seemingly) simple request: “Can you outline a few things I ought to do in planning for my retirement?”

It quickly became obvious that a single page and a few bullet points would not meet our friend’s needs or our commitment to provide the best possible service. Over time, we hope to offer a wide range of facts and ideas to assist our readers in planning for and enjoying a meaningful retirement.

AR is edited by Pathwaves president, Francis J. Flynn, Psy.D. Known almost universally as “Skip,” Dr. Flynn brings a unique background to his writing and therapeutic work. The Miami native and alumnus of the University of Miami, where he was a member of the prestigious Iron Arrow Honor Society, he earned a Master of Divinity degree in Theology from the Maryknoll Seminary, Maryknoll, New York (1976) and his Doctor of Psychology degree from Nova Southeastern University (1986).

Ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1976, Dr. Flynn has served in Bolivia, Chile and Venezuela, as well as West New York, New Jersey and in the Hispanic community of South Florida. His extensive personal/professional career includes eleven years as a chaplain/counselor in a maximum-security Florida prison, eleven years as the substance abuse counselor at a major university, and seven trips to China, where he taught about addictions and addictions counseling in medical and nursing schools.

Father Flynn coauthors a regular blog on spirituality and contemporary theological/religious issues with Episcopal priest Father Roger Tobin. You are invited to read their work at AuthenticHealers.com.
